A handwriting planner for iPad. Your pages are just files you own.
The short version: there is no Onionskin server. Your handwriting, your pages, your photos — they live on your iPad and in your own iCloud. We never receive them, because there's nowhere for them to go. It's all your data.
Onionskin is a quiet planner you write in by hand with your Apple Pencil. Every page is a small folder of plain files (the drawing layers and a little description) — the kind of files you can open, copy, or back up yourself. It's built for people who want a calm, private place to plan that they fully control.
That's it. Onionskin has no accounts to sign up for, no login, no analytics, no tracking, no ads, and no third-party data collection. We don't have a copy of your library and can't see it.
Onionskin can prepare an optional "underlay" beneath your writing — your day's schedule, your reminders, and a short note. If you turn this on, it's done on your iPad using Apple Intelligence, and it reads only the Apple Calendar and Reminders you explicitly allow. Those choices stay on your device. Nothing about your day is sent to us or to anyone else by the app. You can leave this off entirely, and pages start blank.
If you go out of your way to connect your own outside assistant to your library (an advanced, optional setup you run yourself), then anything you route to that tool is handled by that tool, under its terms — not ours.
During the beta, you're using Onionskin through Apple's TestFlight. Apple may share basic crash logs and any feedback you choose to send with the developer, so we can fix things. That's Apple's TestFlight — you can read its terms in the TestFlight app. We still don't receive your planner contents.
Onionskin isn't directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

For tinkerers: because a page is just files, you can point your own assistant at your library. The reference helper that writes the optional gold layer is open source — onion_planner_mcp on GitHub. It runs on your own Mac; nothing goes through us.
